On her first day of being the monarch of Lorrainelia, Daniele sat dazed in the drawing room of her new palace, the Taj Mahal. She never thought she would actually take over part of the world and have her own empire, especially at twenty-two. As she sat there thinking of all her new privileges and responsibilities, she started reminiscing about how it all started, and how it was a joke.
The joke started when Daniele had told Ashton she was going to take over Switzerland and make it not neutral anymore. That same day, she and Ashton, at lunch, had made a list of all the countries, and states, and cities, and mountains and canyons, and bodies of water each other would get. Then they had said that they would start to take over the world on May 19, 2013. Daniele would start with Switzerland and move on to New Zealand, and Ashton would start with Belgium and move to Germany. Daniele took over Washington D.C. and from there all the rest of the of the United States opened up and Daniele took Florida, New York City, Indiana, and the Grand Canyon. Then Ashton took her pick of the area. Daniele had then moved up to Canada, who quickly surrendered. Then she went after Greenland and Iceland at the same time. Then, to her sister's jealousy, she conquered Australia, which had taken a little longer than expected. France had only taken her a few hours, so she and Ashton met up and had coffee and chocolate from Belgium. Africa took a week, partly because there were so many countries, and partly because it was so hot. Once Africa was taken, Daniele had given it all to Ashton, except for South Africa and Egypt. During the trade-off, Daniele had been given half of Italy and half of Antarctica as well. After the trading, Daniele flew off to Indonesia and, after obtaining it, made Mt. Everest a country. She then had made her way to Greece, then England, then Portugal. Then, only because she loves snow, she took Russia as well. India was taken that same day. June 22, 2013, Daniele conquered Uzbekastan and gave it to her sister for her 21st birthday. By the next friday Daniele had both Hungary and Turkey and was on her way to Korea. She had made her way to Romania and then, finally, Fiji.
Daniele snapped to when her dog, Pearl, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, started to bark at a bird outside the window. She smiled at how gorgeous it was outside and called Pearl to go outside. As she opened the door, she could feel the warm sunshine on her skin, and the breeze rustle her dark brown hair. Pearl bounded out, and rolled all over the grass. Daniele walked to her garden of lilacs and lavender and sat on the soft grass underneath her weeping willow tree and opened the book she had. That book was War and Peace by Jane Austin.
